Adoption Therapy
Certification Introduction Adoptive Family Resources was founded by concerned parents and professionals.
Through our experience we became aware of the need for support and counsel for
families who raise children that have experienced significant abuse and neglect.
Many of these children are in adoptive homes. Often when an adoption is
finalized, there are few services available to help with the continuing needs
that adoptive families may have. We are also concerned about the stress that the
children's psychological issues may bring to even the most resourceful and
caring family. We offer support groups, retreats, social events, advocacy and education that
address the needs of adoptive families. Please see our Current Events section
for a list of what is available at this time. Professionals and families who
attend are familiar and sympathetic to our unique family situations! Some of the
most valuable support and information that our families receive come from other
families who live with the same challenges. All of our events are moderately
priced, and many have scholarships available. Please feel free to contact us by e-mail at jan@adoptivefamilyresources.org or by phone at 303.881.7630.

This project was inspired by the "Kid's and Judge's Day." April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
and the Rocky
Mountain News has supported the promotion of this handbook. The handbook
includes illustrations and small paragraphs so children can understand, in simple terms,
the process of a Dependency and Neglect Case. This was funded by the Court Improvement Project, which is funded by a
federal grant and is aimed at improving how state courts handle cases involving children
in process of a legal hearing for Dependency and Neglect.
